Acne homeopathic remedies use the symptoms of each individual case to determine the method of treatment. By listing all the symptoms of each case and recording how the disease presents itself, the homeopathic specialist then identifies the underlying cause of the problem.
Acne occurs when there’s an excess of sebum produced. It builds to a red bulge on the skin. The outer skin cells do not slough off but stick together, unlike people without acne. These sticky cells then mix with the sebum and form a plug in the hair follicle. Once this plug occurs, normal skin bacteria thrive in that area and create more irritation with their waste material, a toxin to humans when in excess. Sometimes the infection spreads to other areas.

He also looks at other symptoms that do not seem related to the acne. These often give clues to the underlying causes.
For instance if the acne has larger pustules that leave bluish-red markings on the skin, even though the acne infection no longer exists, the homeopathic specialist may prescribe antimonium tartaricum. This is especially good for the person that has a low immune system and frequently gets ailments or one that appears irritable.
Pulsatilla is a treatment used if someone breaks out worse after he becomes too warm or eats heavy, rich foods. Women who tend to have acne near their period. Normally the person that shows this type of symptom also is fair skinned. The person shows signs of moodiness and they tend to enjoy being outdoors rather than in a stuffy room that is too warm.
On the opposite extreme is the person that gets infections easily and they are more like boils than pimples. These painful pustules have strong, rancid smelling pus. They need a warm room and cannot tolerate the cold. For a person with this set of symptoms, the homeopath might suggest hepar sulphuris calcareum.
A homeopathic doctor might also check the skin on the patient’s hands and feet to see if they are cold and clammy. He will note whether the patient has a weight problem, lacks muscle tone and seems anxious. Once the homeopathic doctor notes these points, he will prescribe calcarea carbonica. It is interesting that patients who find this cure effective, also have a craving for eggs and sweets.
Two other drugs used as acne homeopathic remedies are silica and sulphur. Silica helps those with a low functioning immune system, fatigue and slow developing and healing pustules. These people tend to be chilly but have night sweats. Sulfur is a treatment for itchy, sore inflamed acne.
